The Dominican Republic has more than five hundreds of beaches
of any kinds : from those very rarely frequented, to the more
crowed and popular beaches still full of Caribbean atmosphere.
Close to Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic,
there is the beautiful beach of Boca Chica.
It is considered “the biggest natural swimming pool of
the Caribe”. Enclosed from a coralline barrier and a white
beach, rich of palms and vegetation, it is perfect for everybody
... for the lovers of long swimming … for the children
because of the low depth of the sea ... and for those who just
want to spend a day in relax.
The
beach is well organized with bars and restaurants, that give
to their clients free chairs and umbrellas.
On Sunday, when the local people join the tourists to spend
the day, the beach assumes more than usually a lively and animated
atmosphere, enriched also by the rhythm of the local music.
The geographical position in the south of the island, the fantastic
weather, the few rains all year long and the nearness to the
capital and to the two most important airports of the Dominican
Republic (“Las Americas“ and “La
Romana”) make Boca Chica unique and privileged.

At 15 minutes from Boca Chica, in the east direction, there are “Guayacanes” and “Juan Dolio”, beaches not too crowed but beautiful and perfect to spend an undisturbed day under a palm, enjoying a fresh drink and reading a book … but be careful to the fall of coconuts on the head … !!!
Following the way there is “San Pedro”, a typical Dominican town.
As it does not have a beach, the town is visited by the tourists during the week end, when its nice seafront gets full of people and becomes lively and rich of local folklore. It reminds the old country fairs !!! The night end in one of the numerous open discotheques: “Café Caribe” and “Mi sitio”.
“La Romana”, is another lively Dominican town, very known for its important airport, where arrive many charter flights that offer last minute flights at very convenient prices and also one way flight … perfect for who want to spend a long vacation.
In Bayahibe, a small fishers’ village, boats take the tourists to “Isla Saona” and “Catalina”, national parks and unforgettable places. Coming back from these excursions organized by expert guides it is possible to visit “Alto de Chavon” a small town built following the medieval Spanish architecture.
